I went online to make sure my individual checking account transferred the money to my joint account. It did. I then noticed that the balance available seemed off.
My credit card payment was going to be sent tomorrow, so I check my pending bill payments and it didn’t show up. Alarmed, I went into the bill pay system to check it out and sure enough it was there. Why is Wachovia hiding an upcoming withdrawal? It’s like the bank is setting up people to fail.
I really appreciate how ING Direct’s Electric Orange account shows you upcoming bill when you select your account. It helps me keep track of my balances. Ok, that’s it for my little vent. How do you feel about your bank’s online system? Is it easy to use? Is it accurate and/or helpful?

I don’t even understand why that happens sometimes. I don’t yet get how online banking software figures these things out.

My WaMu acct(s) are like that; there’s a few hours in the night when transfers, etc disappear “into the void”

@ Jay: It’s the void that scares me. I want to feel like my bank is on my side. I sometimes feel like my bank is waiting for me to make a mistake and get some money from me.
You’re right, I hate to say. Once a month I have enough money transfered from savings to checking to cover all bills (I pay everything on the 28th). I was being clever and transfering the funds on the 28th, since there’s a bit of float even with EFTs. Well, The bank didn’t transfer the funds in time (which of course I couldn’t tell) and my third party BillPayer nailed me for ISF. Luckily it was them and not my 10+ payees, though I did have to scramble to find a way to alternatively pay everyone since PayTrust slapped my wrist and froze everything for 10 days. Eckk.
Obviously I don’t try to be so clever anymore 😉
Sometimes, it’s better to be safer when it comes to banks.
I personally don’t like WAMU because of that reason. Their systems can be better, but they aren’t. I think their system is designed that way, so they’ll have a chance at charging you fees. Other banks (credit unions for my taste) have better systems.
I use a local credit union and their online system works great.
My credit union is better with the actual balance portion, but ING Direct has the best interface for me.
Wachovia is one of the worst banks out there.
@ Chris: Bank of America has given me a worse time. I’m still reserving judgment on the big ‘W’.
