Our family went to Chili’s restaurant just recently to try out their newly revamped menu. We had only been to Chili’s once a few years ago, but we were very impressed with the new menu when we went this time and plan to go there more often.
I had the Asian Salad. I am not a big salad lover, but I loved this salad. It was piled high with lettuce and napa cabbage. Grilled chicken slices topped the salad, and carrots, edamame and cilantro were nestled inside. The peanut sauce was delicious and did not have an overpowering peanut butter taste.
My son ordered the Steakhouse Sandwich with seasoned fries. His sandwich came on a softy, chewy pita bread and was stuffed with sirloin steak, mushrooms, provolone cheese and arugula. He enjoyed the taste of his sandwich. He normally does not care much for beef, but this beef was tender and well-prepared; it was so good he ate the entire meal. (And he is only 6!)
My husband decided to be decadent and get the Southern Smokehouse Bacon Burger. Definitely not for every day consumption, this hearty burger was served with thick slices of bacon, smoked cheddar, onion strings and ancho-chile BBQ sauce. The meat was juicy and tender, and the maple bacon slices blended perfectly with the rest of the sandwich.
The only drawback to our visit was that it seemed to take quite a long time to get our food. My 20 month old daughter was tired and hungry, so that might have made the wait seem longer. However, our server was very nice and offered to get her some juice to tide her over until the food came. Once the food arrived, it was delicious.
Another enhancement to our visit was Chili’s new Ziosk system. This small screen device sits on each table. Diners can watch movie trailers among other things while they are waiting for their food. Patrons can even print off their bill when they are ready to go and pay right at the table with a gift card or credit card. I absolutely loved this feature! We dine with three kids, two of them under two. We never know when their patience will run out, and I hate having to flag down the server. This new system eliminates that completely. Diners can even choose to print out their receipt or send it to their e-mail.
Chili’s restaurant has generously offered one $50 gift card to a lucky winner. This card can be used at Chili’s, Macaroni Grill, On the Border, and Maggiano’s.
