Good Morning Green Panda Friends.  I don’t know how the weather has been in your part of the country, but over here in the sunny North East we have been in the middle of a heat wave. Since summer is here it’s time to start discussing what we are going to do this summer and how we are going to spend the next couple of months.  We have previously discussed our plans for the upcoming summer months, but today we are going to discuss cheap ways to have fun this summer.

If you want to have fun this summer but you don’t want to spend a lot of cash then keep these ideas in mind.

1. Get Some Friends and Go Outside.  If you want to get some fresh air and get out into the sunshine you can spend the day at the park with friends. Pack a lunch, get some friends, grab a Frisbee or bring a soccer ball and you can enjoy your day in the sun without spending a lot of money.  Enjoying a picnic with friends, reading a book, playing sports, or just people watching are great ways to have fun this summer and enjoy the warm weather without spending a lot of money.

2. Take a Road Trip.  If you have the luxury of needing to kill sometime this summer then may I suggest taking a road trip to your favourite place or taking a road trip to a city where you have never been but always wanted to visit.  Road trips are usually the cheapest way to travel, although gas is currently very expensive.  Bring your own snacks and bottled water and you will save money while travelling by car this summer.

3. Make Your Own Refreshments.  There is no better way to cool off during summer than with a nice cold beverage. There is no need to spend money on popsicles and slush drinks this summer when you can make your own for much cheaper.  You can make your favourite cold liquid beverage and then blend it with some ice cubes to make a refreshing slush drink.  You can also freeze your favourite fruity beverage and make your own popsicles. If you are of legal drinking age you can freeze mojitos, daiquiri, and margarita mix to make a party ready Popsicle.

4. Hit Up The Toy Store.  If you can’t get to the beach this summer and you don’t have a pool you can still cool down in other ways.  Visit your local toy store and get a water gun and some balloons. Pretend that you are twelve years old again and have a good old fashioned water fight.  Do you remember your summers when you were a pre teen and a young teenager? That was a great time when summer actually meant having time off, hanging out with friends, and just having fun. I definitely miss those summer days.

How are you saving money and having fun this summer? Let us know so we can have fun too!
