As you probably heard, last week Circuit City declared bankruptcy and will be liquidating their stores. In fact, the process has already begun. The question is, are there any good deals?
I will admit, with three stores in a 15 mile radius of where I live, I have not yet stopped by the stores. Why? When I was in college I worked part-time at a local Staples. Unfortunately, in a restructuring move by the corporate office, many stores were to be closed and liquidated including the one I worked at.
You’d be amazed at how much we were told to increase prices on everything in the store. The prices were so high that it would have taken 30% just to get back at the regular store prices. To the consumer, they were blinded by the ‘large’ percentage discounts and were buying by the droves. By the time better discounts arrived, many of the useful products were already long gone.
I plan on venturing out this weekend just to see the aftermath, but at this point, I plan on making ‘no deals’. If Circuit City is on your radar, be sure to do research on the product on sites like PriceGrabber.com to compare the best prices.
For now, I say NO DEAL!
