As some of you may already know, blogging is very dear to me. It’s basically my lifestyle. I entertain myself, get my news, spend my time and I even earn an income from blogs… Blogging is my passion. The good news is that blogging is free! 🙂 (Ahh that magic word!) So if you’re into blogging, it’s great that you stopped by as today I’m going to be discussing the best places where you can start a blog for free!

Let me tell you just one golden rule in blogging before we get started: You never ever have to pay to blog. Don’t ever fall for that scam, ever.

These sources I’m going to be talking about are platforms I personally use and/or recommend. There are plenty of others which I will not go into detail about but I’ll mention them at the bottom 🙂

6 Places Where You Can Start A Blog For Free

6 Places Where You Can Start A Blog For Free

Tumblr

A stunning platform but it’s mostly for people to “consume” blogs. I do have a Tumblr blog but I rarely ever use it to publish my ideas. For me it’s just a platform where I can follow other Tumblr blogs I like. A great feature in Tumblr is the re-post function where you can easily “re-blog” other’s content. Think if it as the re-tweet of blogging. Very easy to use and great for beginners!

Twitter

Twitter and other social networks are also blogging platforms. It’s just it’s considered micro-blogging there. People tweet out and update their profiles with two sentence “blog posts”. I personally believe that micro-blogging is the thing of the future as trends show that people hate reading long articles. Social networks are a great way to get your words out there!

Quora

Ahh I love Quora. I call it the “intelligent” social network. Quora is used to ask questions that don’t have an answer. Questions like: “What is the true meaning of life?” or “What is the best experience in life”. I say it’s the “intelligent social network” because of the people that frequent it but maybe the word “intelligent” is not the right word here… What I mean is: it’s more sophisticated.

If you like to test your philosophy and views of the world, go check out Quora! And oh yes you can blog there too LOL!

Medium

All the “blogger enthusiasts” are flocking to Medium all because it has one feature that none of the others have: Medium tells you how much time a blog post will take to read. How cool is that? As I already said people hate reading long posts so this little feature is very helpful!

It also has a super clean and sexy theme. I suggest you check it out.

Ghost

Ghost is still developing and I have to say it looks very promising. It takes all the “complications” out of of blogging and lets you just focus on your writing. A great option for those starting out with blogging but unfortunately you can not host the blog online. You have to download the software and install it and run it on your operating system. Total bummer but Ghost promises online hosting is going to be available soon!

WordPress

This is the mecca of blogging. This platform is super customizable and has great features, tools, plugins, themes etc… Sites like Sony, Forbes, Mashable, CNN & even Justin Timberlake (not to mention Financial Highway) all run on WordPress. The reason it’s so popular is because inspite of all the great features I mentioned, it’s still super easy to use.

You can get started as a total beginner with SiteRubix as it also comes with lots of tutorials and support!

I run ALL my blogs on WordPress as the flexibility and power here are unmatched! I would also highly recommend WordPress to anybody looking to start an online business on a budget.

Other blogging platform worthy of a mention are: Hubpages, Blogger, Squidoo, LiveJournal, Street Articles, & Weebly (off the top of my head).

There you go folks, these are my top recommendations of the best places to start a free blog.

Remember that you NEVER have to pay to blog! I can’t stress this enough!

If you have any doubt about a blogging platform or would like to ask some questions regarding the ones I talked about feel free to drop me a message below and I’ll get back to you asap 🙂

Thanks for tuning in.
