Earlier this week I had a chance to reconnect with a high school friend. I was shocked to find out that she is suffering from lyme disease and her dream of becoming a doctor has taken a backseat. She was a vibrant and smart girl well on her way to medical school and becoming a doctor when this disease changed her life. What makes things worse is that, the Canadian government does not recognize lyme disease and doesn’t allow doctors to treat it, so individuals with lyme disease are left to seek treatment outside the country at astronomical costs. Luckily, Katerina has many talents and one of them is painting. She selling her paintings to help cover some of the cost of this disease. I strongly encourage you to check out her paintings and maybe buy one (or donate) to help her beat this terrible disease. If you want to share it on facebook, twitter, your blog or other means please do so.
You can read her story here, she also has a Facebook page where you can follow her progress.
All the best Katerina!

Serious?!? Lyme disease isn’t recognized? That’s horrible. I hope your friend can get the funds to help treat the disease.
Thank you for sharing your list! I will try to go through each of them later… On the other note, I hope your friend gets well very very soon so that she can go back to medical school. I am sure she will be a good doctor, given her illness and experience how it is to get sick. I also checked out her paintings. I will encourage my husband to buy at least one or two so we can help her with her medications.
Sorry to hear about your friend. I will check out her work and I wish her all the best in her recovery.
