Last long weekend of the summer! Next week is back to school week for most students and the summer fun is over, hope you all had a save and enjoyable summer!
Thanks & Blog Updates:
Yes I know I had said that I would not make blog updates a regular thing back in June, but every now and than I need to thank our readers and fellow bloggers who have helped us with the rapid growth of the blog.
July was a busy month for me as we were busy with wedding preparations and in August was the wedding so overall it’s been a busy month. I was fortunate enough to have some great blogger friends who volunteered and provided me with guest posts, I had about 8 guest post that helped out tremendously over the busy wedding times and I am great full to all those who provided the great articles!
Blog Updates
Our blog has grown tremendously since the past update in June, the last 3 weeks espcially have been tremendous. Ranking fairly high in Google for several keywords, so no surprise that search engine traffic has tripled over the three months. Our subscriber base and twitter followers more than doubled, comments have increased along with it. Reader email has exploded we average about 12-15 reader email per week, although for bigger blogs that is nothing for us that is huge, please feel free to contact us at any time with questions, suggestions, concerns or just to tell us how much you hate our blog. You can contact us through the contact page or email info [at] financialhighway.com.
We have had a very good amount of mainstream media mentions, including the Globe & Mail, Wall Street Journal Online, and Time.com, these have driven a large amount of traffic and new readers to our site.
Digg it? Yesterday we had our first attempt to make the front page of DIGG.com with 11 Dumb Ways to Get in Debt, but just fell shy a few votes before the deadline. Thanks everyone for your support and help! Although we just missed the front page, we did attract a large amount of traffic and attention. We set a new record on Tipd.com for most tip’s ever received and beat a 322 day old record.
All this is thanks to all our readers and supporters so THANK YOU ALL!!
Thesis Theme has been a great theme for us, has reduced our time spent on technicalities and increased our time writing and expanding, it has also played a major role in better search engine ranking.
ProBlogger 31 Days to Better Blogging has also been a tremendous resource, I have been going through it two times in the past month and I can see major improvements in all areas of the blog. I think they are both a must have tool for new bloggers!
Alright enough about me here are some great articles from this week, enjoy!

Ray, Congrats on the traffic and media mentions! Too bad the post didn’t make the front page of digg, I’m sure you’ll be there soon. Thanks for the link, have a good weekend!
Hey, congrats on the big jump in traffic & subscribers. That’s awesome. The most fun part is that (in my experience at least), it just keeps on building.
Thanks for the mention and have a great weekend!
