It’s been three days since the last post we have had on FINANCIAL HIGHWAY and if you have visited the blog during that time you may have noticed that the site was down for most of the time. There seemed to be some technical issues and when I contacted my host Startlogic a “specialist” was gonna take care of it as soon as possible, well it was well over 24 hours when I contacted Startlogic again and my issue was send to the “top of the list” another…..another 12 hours and NOTHING happened at which point I switched hosts. This was pretty much the first time I had an issue with Startlogic and the incompetence and lack of technical support was UNBELIEVABLE…….well thank god it’s over! Thanks to the Weakonomist for pointing me to my new host; Hostgator!
The Makeover
The New Financial Highway Logo
FH had a fantastic first 3 months (more on this to come) so we took the opportunity to make some changes and improvements to the blog. Peter from Logos for Websites & Money Matters did a great job creating some graphics for us (header, logo as well as favicon) he had a great turnaround time highly recommend him!
We also switched over to the Thesis Theme which will help bring many improvements on the blog, I am still getting used to the tones of features available on Thesis Theme so watch out for new usefull features. I would like to thank Frugal Trader from Million Dollar Journey who gave some tips when the site was down and some pointers on thesis when I was doing my research. Also like to thank MyFindependence who spent a great amount of time trying out various php codes for me because they were not working on my site.
We tried to clean up the site a little and make it somewhat more user friendly as well as easy on the eyes, we are still experimenting with the colour scheme a little bit so you might notice changes over time.
Next Step
The most important issue was to get the blog back up and running and it took several days for me to get things back in order as far as we could tell things seem to be back to normal and we have not lost any data! Although we have been through the site several times to ensure everything functions properly, there maybe some malfunctions if you notice any please let us know.
We still working on the design of the site so you may notice changes throughout the days, we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

It’s looking good Ray! I was thinking about using the Thesis theme. After seeing how much of a face lift it was for your site, you’ve made my decision easy!
I’m glad you’re back. The site looks good and I like your logo.
One suggestion: Try the Subscribe to Comments Plugin. It allows commenter’s to subscribe via e-mail. If they have asked a question, they will be notified of the response.
Are you still with the same host or have you changed ?
Looks great! Love the new favicon. Now we can compare Thesis notes, too.

Why does your new logo depict an American highway sign? Shouldn’t it be modeled on a Canadian sign since both your audience and content are overwhelmingly Canadian? I really like the idea, but I think it’s a near miss on the execution.
@ SimpleCanuck thats a good question and here is the answer…..i tried with other signs however there really isnt a Canadian “highway” sign…we tried couple other things but it did not look very nice…….so had to settle with the american highway sign………….if you can come up with another idea please let us know
